In the fall of 2001 before Barbara and I met, she had planned to travel to Spain on a tour. The events of 9/11 that year caused the cancellation of those plans. That summer, I too had intended to travel to Spain. My plans were also scrapped due the the events that took place. One could speculate that we may have met in Spain at some point during those journeys.
Between Christmas and New Year that year we met and have been together since. We have often talked about going to Spain but have never taken the opportunity to do it. This year we were inspired by the Hendersonville Sister Cities program and their previous trips to Alumnecar. We talked about it and investigated going on that trip. As we thought about it, we decided to make it an extended trip spending about 2 1/2 weeks traveling in Spain prior to the Sister Cities program.
Although we are still both very healthy, we are getting to the age when travel may become more difficult so we are not letting another opportunity escape us.
In a couple days, we will be on our way.
